I had the pleasure of capturing Emily and Chris’s romantic garden-themed wedding at the stunning Bendooley Estate in the Southern Highlands.  A rainy day is usually the last thing on most couples’ minds when they think of a February wedding. However, Emily & Chris proved that with great planning, no weather event could dampen their wedding day.

Grooms Preparation at Craigievar Bowral : When we arrived at Craigievar to photograph Chris and the boys’ morning preparations, the rain was falling fairly heavily. Luckily, it cleared long enough for us to step outside and snap a few shots of the boys in the sunlight. Chris looked dapper, and the excitement in the air was palpable.

Brides Preparation at Shepherd’s Lea for Emily’s preparation. The property was breathtaking and suited the wedding styling perfectly. Even though the weather kept everyone inside, we captured some gorgeous portraits. The bridesmaids and family were all smiles, and the rain was the last thing on anyone’s mind. Emily looked like royalty in her incredible embroidered lace veil and Rosa Clara gown.

Ceremony at the Lakeside Pavilion, Bendooley Estate: The Lakeside Pavilion at Bendooley Estate is an incredible location for a wedding ceremony and easily the most beautiful wet weather location in the Southern Highlands. Studio Lilywood created a delicate floral arbour that transformed the space, looking gorgeous against the trailing ivy at the pavilion. Guests were treated to views of the lake, and Leonie Ayling ensured the ceremony was filled with love and special moments. The joy and laughter on Chris and Emily’s faces throughout the ceremony were priceless.

Exploring Bendooley Estate: Despite a few spots of rain, we ventured out to explore the beautiful gardens of Bendooley Estate. Everyone had an absolute blast. There was non-stop laughter and smiles. One of my favorite moments was getting sprayed by champagne on the homestead steps and when the wind caught Emily’s veil – those made for some of my favorite photos.

Reception at the Book Barn, Bendooley Estate: The Book Barn was transformed by Studio Lilywood into a lush garden hideaway. Candles were scattered amongst vases of rambling wildflowers, and a canopy of cascading flowers and foliage overhead created a magical atmosphere. Emily and Chris had the most thoughtful gifts for their guests, making a donation to the rural fire service on behalf of each of them. The night ended with everyone feasting, drinking good wine, and swapping stories. Oberon Lane got the party started, making it a spectacular wedding and a perfect day that will be cherished for a lifetime.
